Abound Psychological Services, PLLC is the clinical office of Angela K. Etchison, MS, LPE-I. Angela has a M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, AR. She is a Licensed Psychological Examiner - Independent in the state of Arkansas. Although she is not a native of Arkansas, Angela considers Arkansas her home. She moved to Arkansas when she was just 5 years old and has lived in Little Rock most of her life. Angela graduated from high school in 1998 with an interest and passion for children and their families.
In 2002, Angela graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from UCA. After considering other graduate programs, Angela decided that UCA could offer her the education and training she needed to reach her goals. Since completing her graduate studies in 2004, Angela has gained invaluable experience in the assessment and diagnosis and treatment of various developmental and psychological disorders, including autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, specific learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, mood/anxiety disorders and other behavioral disorders. Since 2005, Angela has worked with various clinics and agencies (e.g., inpatient and outpatient providers, school districts, and nonprofit organizations), exposing her to a wide range of demographically diverse clients.
In February 2012, Angela opened her private practice where she works with children, teens and adults. During that same time, the Arkansas Psychology Board awarded Angela with her independent privileges, indicating completion of all supervision and training requirements under a licensed psychologist. While she is no longer required to obtain clinical supervision, Angela continually seeks the wisdom and counsel of other therapists and psychologists in the field to help her be as effective as she can be. She also expands her knowledge and understanding of developmental and psychological issues through continuing education workshops and conferences.
Angela is interested in identifying her client's strengths in order to help improve academic (or job) performance, develop positive coping skills or stress-management, strengthen parent-child and/or peer relationships, and build self-esteem. She integrates Cognitive-Behavoiral Therapy (CBT) with other modalities such as Family Systems Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Play Therapy. Psychological testing or Trauma-Focused-CBT are also utilized when appropriate.
